What was it about?
We wanted to try out a pop-up museum with the museum community. This was an opening event for the conference and it was a great way for people to start to get to know each other.
How did it go?
It was great fun! We spent an hour creating our museum and then it was open for viewers for two hours after that. We had a cash bar and some appetizers so it felt very much like a welcoming reception. For the labels we asked everyone to tell us what they wanted us to know about their object and what question we should ask. We also made sure that everyone had the name of their object on their name tag and their name on their label so people could find the person connected with each object. We hope to try this again next year and add some additional participatory experiences for those who do not bring an object.
Brad Larson set up his Story Kiosk so we could record our stories. They are included on the YouTube link below.
